History:

Lobe piercing, also known as ear piercing, is probably the best known and most popular form of ear piercing. Widespread in various cultures for thousands of years, it continues to enjoy great popularity and appeals to people of all ages and styles.

Placement:

As the name suggests, the lobe piercing is located on the earlobe: the soft, fleshy part of the ear. It can be pierced in various places on the earlobe, for example:

  • Classic lobe piercing: In the center of the earlobe
  • Second / third lobe piercing: Second or third lobe piercing in the earlobe, usually parallel and/or symmetrical to the first / second lobe piercing
  • Stacked lobe piercing: In the upper area of the earlobe, above or diagonally to existing lobe piercings.
  • Stretched / Stretched Lobes: Gradually stretched earlobes (one or both sides) with a larger diameter ear hole. Lobe (ear holes) can also be pierced directly to 5mm.

Jewelry:

Initially, a labret with a bar thickness of 1.2 mm is inserted into the freshly pierced ear hole. After healing, most conceivable types of jewelry are suitable, with the following being particularly popular:

  • Stud earrings: Bar-shaped studs with various attachments (e.g. balls, stones, flowers)
  • Earrings: Rings in different sizes, materials and designs
  • Clicker / click segment rings: Rings with decorations such as cubic zirconia, Swarovski, patterns, snakes, etc.
  • Pendants: Earrings with dangling elements (e.g. pearls, feathers, pendants)
  • Plugs & tunnels: Bar-shaped, hollow or decorated pieces of jewelry for stretched lobe piercings. These are available in various sizes and materials such as steel, stone, wood, silicone and acrylic.
  • Clicker / click segment rings: Rings with decorations such as cubic zirconia, Swarovski, patterns, snakes, etc.
  • InternalInternally threaded jewelry with decoration, shapes, patterns etc.

      Healing time:

The healing time of a lobe piercing is relatively short and is usually between 6 and 8 weeks. The ear piercings heal faster than the cartilage. Nevertheless, it is important to be patient during the healing phase and to follow the care instructions carefully.

      Dangers and complications:

As with any piercing, there are certain risks associated with lobe piercings, such as infections, allergic reactions and scarring. To minimize these risks, it is essential to be pierced by a professional piercer and to use high-quality jewelry to minimize these risks.

      Recommendations for care:

      • Disinfect the piercing 3-5 times a day with a suitable piercing spray. We recommend the use of our Piercing Care. We have achieved the best results with this piercing spray over the years.
      • Avoid touching or pulling on the piercing. Please do not use Q-tips (cotton buds) for cleaning and use a clean handkerchief for crusts.
      • Sleep on the other side of the head until the piercing has healed. Otherwise the piercing may become crooked and cause problems.
      • Do not wear over-ear headphones until the piercing has completely healed.
      • Make sure that your hair does not touch the piercing if possible.
