Introduction to scoop piercing

Placement:

Visually, a scoop piercing, also known as frog eyes, is very similar to Venom Bites. However, the scoop piercing is not pierced vertically through the tongue, but is pierced horizontally through the surface of the tongue with a surface bar. Attachments are placed at the two ends of the surface bar, which protrude at a 90° angle from the surface of the tongue.

Scoop piercings: Everything you need to know

History:

unknown

Jewelry:

With a scoop piercing, the surface bar remains inside the surface of the tongue, with an attachment placed on each end of the bar, which can be replaced after healing. Our special surface rods offer a better hold than other round rods.

            Healing time:

The healing time of a surface piercing varies from person to person, depending on how the piercing is cared for. However, the average time is usually between 3 and 4 months. It is important to be patient during the entire healing phase and to follow the care instructions exactly. We recommend the care instructions to be followed exactly.

              Dangers and complications:

As with any piercing, there are certain risks with scoop piercings, such as infections, allergic reactions, inflammation, scarring and tooth/gum problems. Surface piercings can lead to rejection of the jewelry and irritation caused by movement of the tongue as well as contact with teeth and food. To minimize these risks, it is important to be patient during the healing phase and to follow the care instructions carefully.

              Recommendation for care:

              • Disinfect the piercing at least three times a day with a suitable piercing spray. We recommend using a mouthwash (Easy Piercing) or mouth spray (Prontolind mouth spray) according to the instructions.
              • Avoid touching the piercing or playing with it with your teeth.
              • Avoid animal dairy products, fruit or fruit juices, spicy or acidic food/drinks for the first 2 weeks.
              • Drink enough water.
              • Reduce / avoid smoking and drink little to no alcohol during healing.
              • No wet kissing or oral sex during healing.
              • If you are unsure about excessive swelling, redness or pain, come and see us.

                        Additional information:

                        • Pain: The piercing of a scoop piercing is in most cases a short, burning sensation. The healing of a tongue piercing is unpleasant as the tongue can swell considerably. However, the individual sensation of pain can vary.
                        • Costs: The cost of a Scoop Piercing vary depending on the jewelry. Our prices start at CHF 80 including standard jewelry.
                        • Jewelry change: Once the piercing has healed completely, you can change the jewelry. However, it is important to use high-quality jewelry to avoid infection.

                        Conclusion:
